Announcement Number Four – My Journey To Jesus!

Catholic Speaker Gary Zimak tells his conversion story on EWTN TV's The Journey Home with Marcus Grodi

Here’s my final announcement (for this week, anyway!)

As many of you know, I am a cradle Catholic and I have attended Mass every Sunday for as long as I can remember. Given that information, it may come as a surprise if I tell you that for most of my life I never knew Christ personally, worried constantly, rarely prayed and made no effort to live out my Catholic Faith in the world.

On January 26 at 8 PM Eastern, you’ll have a chance to hear my conversion story as I visit Marcus Grodi on the EWTN TV series, The Journey Home. I hope you’ll be able to watch the show, especially if you’re eager to have a closer personal relationship with Jesus. No matter how distant the Lord seems to you, He is closer than you think and He wants to be your friend. Tune in on January 26 and let me share my story with you!

Was able to watch your appearance on The Journey Home on YouTube and enjoyed hearing your conversion story. I am a cradle Catholic and it was in college that I first heard about a personal relationship with Jesus, from Campus Crusade and the Navigators. I continued to attend Mass but learned the value of Bible Study and Fellowship from these Evangelical Christians. I have been frustrated that my children have not had that strong attachment to their Catholic faith although they have had Catholic educations. I had thought that catechesis was the answer, but now I understand that evangelization was missing. I recently read “Forming Intentional Disciples” by Sherry Weddell which was a real eye-opener. I hadn’t put two and two together to see that it all boils down to realizing you can have that personal relationship with God, even though that was my turning point. I was also able to attend a day-long seminar with Sherry Weddell and now I am on fire about her step-by-step approach to evangelization. I hope to get further training and put it into practice. I would recommend her book to anyone— she has great statistics about the lack of “Intentional Disciples” in the Catholic Church.

Thank you for your comments, Renee. I agree that Sherry’s book is an excellent resource and I would also recommend it to all!

      God Bless,
      Gary
