Jesus: ?If They Persecuted Me, They Will Also Persecute You?

The Lord wasn?t kidding when He uttered these words in John 15:20. Any Catholic who stands up for their faith has experienced this to some degree. Today?s society will tolerate religion up until the point that you attempt to tell someone that their behavior is immoral. Once you do that, the verbal or physical persecution begins.

One of the beautiful things about the Catholic Faith is that her dogmatic teachings do not change. For those looking for the one, true Church founded by Christ this is a compelling piece of evidence. After all, the truth is the truth?Jesus identified Himself as ?the Way, the Truth, and the Life? and one wouldn?t expect that truth to change as society?s values become more permissive and immoral.

As for being persecuted, The Catholic Church certainly experiences it?s share. Why? Because the Church?s teachings don?t change according to public opinion and the world doesn?t like that one bit. People don?t want to be told that abortion, artificial birth control, premarital sex, embryonic stem cell research, gay ?marriage?, etc. are immoral because they find it too restrictive. Fortunately, The Catholic Church continues to teach the truth and doesn?t care what the world thinks. That?s good because that?s exactly what Christ did?and the world hated Him for it!

Keep this in mind as you watch all of the press coverage for Barack Obama?s appearance at Notre Dame University this weekend. The Church will once again come ?under fire? from the liberal media, but that?s ok? we can?t say we weren?t warned!
